Tell us something we didn’t already know
New research is showing that a diet of burgers, chips, sausages and cake will program your brain into craving even more foods that are high in sugar, salt and fat.
Researchers believe that this is the first study of its kind to suggest that brains may react in the same way to junk food as they do to drugs, making certain foods almost as addictive as heroin.
Although the study was conducted using rats and not humans – I wonder why, it’s not like they would be short on finding test subjects – the results were pretty much the same with the rats that were fed a diet of unlimited amounts of junk, including cheesecake, fatty meat products, and cheap sponge cakes (twinkies?) quickly becoming very fat and starting to binge.
