Brenda lost 117 lbs
“I wish I had done the Slimband procedure from the start. Slimband
has worked where the gastric bypass failed.”
I come from a family of overeaters, so it should come as no surprise that by the time I was 10 years old, I was already dieting. If I was disappointed about something, I’d eat. If I was happy, I’d celebrate and eat. Basically, if I wasn’t sleeping, I was eating. After a while, I realized how bad I looked because of all of the weight that I had put on, so I started yet another diet in the hopes of getting a date. Ultimately I ended up gaining more weight than I started with! When I turned 19, I became pregnant, and I used that as my excuse to eat whatever I wanted. In no time at all, I was up to 250 pounds. Not long after that, I became real sick as a result of developing cancer. I was sick and tired of feeling and looking the way I did and I knew I had to find a way to get back to better health. I became desperate and decided to have gastric bypass surgery. It worked for a while, but once I started to eat normally, I started packing on the weight and suddenly I was 264 pounds!
I already had weight loss surgery and it wasn’t successful, which made me worry whether I could even have another one. When I had the gastric bypass done, I remember my doctor had told me to consider waiting until the gastric band would receive approval in Canada. I didn’t wait and it was a regret I have always lived with. The good news is that because of that advice, I knew that when I began my online search for a band option a decade later, I would find an option that was approved and that was when I found Slimband. When I contacted them, they explained that it was possible for them to correct the problems from my previous surgery and that was when I knew this was something I’d have to try.
I wish I had done the Slimband procedure from the start. Slimband has worked where the gastric bypass failed. I lost 117 pounds and haven't looked back since. I'm eating normally according to the Slimband Program guidelines and living life to the fullest. I’m confident enough to say that my outside matches what’s always been on the inside.
