Joint Pain
Are you beginning to notice more joint pain? Does the thought of walking up a flight of stairs cause you pain before you even start? If so, you are not alone. Many people believe this type of pain is just a part of growing older, however, what those people fail to realize is that it is also be possible to reduce those pains and, for some, it might even be possible to find permanent relief from joint pain.
Some people are more likely to experience joint pain than others. If you are wondering if you might fall into that group, you might begin by stepping on a scale or looking in a mirror. As it turns out, the heavier a person is, the greater their chances of having some type of joint pain. People with a history of having a high Body Mass Index (BMI) usually develop arthritis at a younger age.
There are two different classifications of joint pain. Inflammatory Joint Ache, more commonly known as arthritis, may be the best-known form of joint pain. The other type is called Non-inflammatory Joint Ache or arthralgia. In the case of Non-inflammatory Joint Ache, obese individuals place more stress on their joints, which can cause the joint(s) to wear out and cartilage to dissolve. The result is often pain, inflammation and discomfort primarily in the knees, hips and ankles.
The good news is that weight loss can have a dramatic and positive effect by alleviating much of the pain. In the end, whether you have joint pain or just want to avoid it, the best option is to always achieve and maintain a healthy body weight.
