The KickStart meeting is an informative online session where a dietitian will teach you tips and strategies on how to eat optimally with the band once you’ve begun solid foods. This session is the first step in preparing for your next fill and is key to your ongoing success with Slimband.

Some of our patients have experienced technical issues when registering for or connecting to our KickStart sessions. IMPORTANT! Please read these important tips for making your KickStart sessions problem free:
- Once you have registered for the webinar, you will receive a GoTo Training Invitation in your e-mail. Be sure to check ahead of time to make sure you have received it.
- The GoTo Invite will confirm the date and time of registration.
- In the GoTo Invite, a link will be provided. It will also provide you with a phone number and PIN number should you wish to listen to the speaker on the phone, while watching the webinar on your computer.
- If your computer has a speaker, you will be able to listen and watch at the same time. Using the phone would not be necessary.
- Click on this link approximately 10 minutes prior to the webinar.
- The GoTo Training software will be launched and start downloading. If your computer asks you to 'Run' or 'Download' click yes to all.
- This process can take a few minutes.
- A GoTo 'Dashboard' will appear on your screen. You will notice an Audio drop down box. By default, this box is set to 'Mic and Speakers'. If you prefer to phone in, click beside phone and a phone number and access code will pop up for you to call into the session.
- Make sure you're entering the correct phone number for the session. If you haven't entered the correct phone number, chances are you will hear a tone every few seconds but nothing else. If this happens, all you need to do is hang up and re-dial.
- After you have entered the access code, you will be asked to provide an Audio PIN. You do not need to enter one. Instead, press the # key after you've entered your access code and you will enter the call.
- If you find you are unable to access the GoTo Training Webinar, try closing it and re-clicking on the link within the e-mail invitation.

Why does my computer freeze when attempting to join a seminar?
- Make sure you have the most updated Java software downloaded on your computer. (java.com)
- Web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Safari may have security settings that interfere with the platform. To rule out if this is the issue, try using from Mozilla Firefox as the browser which generally has the fewest issue (mozilla.org).
What are the system requirements for joining a seminar?
For PC users:
- Windows® 7, Vista, 2003 Server or XP (Linux is not supported)
- Internet Explorer® 7.0 or newer, Firefox® 3.0 or newer or Chrome® 5.0 or newer (JavaScriptTM enabled. JavaTM 1.6 or higher highly recommended.)
- Internet connection with cable modem, DSL or better recommended
- Dual core 2.4GHz CPU or faster with at least 2 GB of RAM recommended
For Mac users:

Why does my browser freeze when attempting to join a seminar from a Mac?
There is a known issue with Java update 10 that impacts Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) attendees. This update is causing browsers to freeze as GoToMeeting tries to initiate or join a new session. Apple is actively working on a resolution.
The latest version of Firefox (v5.01) can resolve this issue for Mac attendees.
Firefox can be downloaded for free from mozilla.com.
Once installed, you should be able to join or start meetings from Firefox.
If you continue to have issues, contact Citrix Support directly at 1-866-998-6710 for more immediate assistance. Do not worry-Slimband offers several sessions each week and you may re-register at your earliest convenience.
Since your surgery, the focus has been on healing. But now that you are nearing the end of your recovery period (5 weeks marks this day), you may be getting ready for your first fill. This valuable session will teach you everything you need to know about fills and achieving the proper restriction level, or sweetspot, with your Slimband.

Slimband is coming back to Sudbury! The city is well known in the mining industry because it was once a leader in nickel mining. Today the 'Big Nickel', a replica of the 1951 Canadian nickel, can be found on the grounds of the Dynamic Earth science museum. We're going to be visiting Sudbury in early February to host a Common Grounds meeting for our Sudbury area Bandsters.
Slimband Ambassador Frank G. and fill nurse Chelsea will be attending the meeting. As a gastric banding patient, Frank will talk about how he managed to lose 230 pounds with the help of his band, and how he has kept the weight off ever since.

The Motorcycle Super Show is the largest show for motorcycle enthusiasts in North America. The show has over 500 exhibitors and 1,000 motorcycles that will be on display. With three stages, live bands, and custom bike displays, this is one show you can't miss if you're a motorcycle enthusiast!
Gastric banding patient Frank G. will be in attendance. At his highest weight, he weighed 430 pounds. As a motorcycle lover himself, Frank found the extra weight was taking away from the thrill of the ride.
